Revit Architecture Workshops – Let us know what you want!

There are a variety of topics on which we could conduct half-day Revit Architecture workshops. Please let us know which of these you would try to attend if we conducted two of these in a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, and charged $99 for one or $149 for both on the scheduled day.

1. Site Work
How to create a basic site plan, including importing points from a survey to create and label topography along with property meets and bounds. Once the site plan is created, how to revise the topology to position and create building pad(s) (including rotation of building as required), parking lots, and roads. The creation of a landscaping plan as well as planting schedules and quantity take-offs will also be covered.

2. Structural Design & Detail Drawings
This session will cover how to use the Structure Tab inside Revit Architecture to lay out structural components and structural systems and how to use the Component Detail Manager to build detail drawings.

3. Family Creation & Beyond the Basic Wall Types
Discusses the two basic types of Revit families: system families and component families. Explores “Best Practices” for modifying existing Revit families, creating new Revit families, selecting the correct family template for appropriate component behavior and categorization, using modeling tools in the Revit Family Editor, and how to create parameters to control component dimensions, behavior, and visibility. Also learn how to create and use complex and stacked walls with such features as copings, sweeps, reveals, etc.

4. Renovation and Addition Projects
How to start with an existing AutoCAD project and design an addition or renovation using Revit Architecture best practices.

5. Rendering in Revit
Learn about basic rendering, including apply materials and adjusting colors, and dividing surfaces to allow the user to apply different finish materials and colors to those surfaces. Also learn about applying and adjusting artificial lights, in both the interior and exterior. Lastly, learn to perform solar studies by adjusting the sun to the building location, time of day and time of year.

6. Work Sharing and Work Sets
When working on a large project, you may have the need for multiple users, both within your office and in remote locations, to work on and edit the project all at the same time. In this case you will have the need to implement worksets. This session will discuss some of the techniques and “best practices” for setting up work-sharing and work sets to make you and your team more productive.

7. Creating Curtain Walls in Revit
Unlike typical walls, a curtain wall is a system that uses a defined set of rules. In this session, you’ll learn the structure of curtain walls and systems. You’ll also learn how to create and use custom mullions and schedules to drive the design. Working with panels will also be covered. Create the rules and the wall almost builds itself!

8. Schedule Anything with Revit
It’s true; you can use Revit to schedule almost anything. This session will explore the power of Revit’s scheduling tools. From creating a simple window schedule to a more robust cost-estimating tool, you’ll learn how to schedule rooms, areas, furniture, walls, doors, windows, curtain wall panels, plantings, electrical fixtures…virtually anything. We’ll cover all the tips and tricks you’ll need. From custom fields, shared parameters and grouping, to schedule keys, formulas and exporting, scheduling is as easy as you make it.

9. Design Options and Phasing
We’ll show you how to use design options to enable designers to develop, evaluate and redesign building elements without recreating the entire project. We’ll also discuss project phasing, which allows a single project to be divided into different construction phases for better project management.

10. Tips and Tricks
As with any other program, there are certain undocumented tips and tricks for using Revit most productively. This is your chance to learn some of these hidden tips and tricks. We will also discuss some of the many third party add-on programs that are available to use with Revit Architecture.
