Sustainable Design Webcast Series!

Autodesk is proud to announce a new webcast series focusing on sustainable design and building. The series features the principles of sustainable design, methods for sustainable building techniques, and building information modeling (BIM) as a means for multi-disciplinary project teams to design, analyze, coordinate and build high-performance, sustainable buildings.

The series kicks off with a discussion around architecture and sustainable design. Each subsequent webcast will layer additional project team members into the discussion, so that participants can hear various points of view on sustainable and renewable building processes from Civil Engineers, MEP Engineers, Construction Professionals and General Contractors.

10/14/08 - 1-2pm EST - Going Paperless and the Environmental Impact of Architectural Practices

There is a huge focus on green design, but what about the environmental impact of inefficient paper-based processes within architectural practices?

  • Join us to find out how to reduce your organization’s carbon footprint by reducing paper and travel while streamlining communications throughout the design process.
  • Learn how to go paperless in your drawing reviews, consultant coordination and interference detections. Leverage key trends in keeping things digital and dematerialized while increasing “ball-in-court” accountability.
  • Find out how to avoid common pitfalls of digitizing processes, and how to retain accountability and transparency throughout the design processes.

11/11/08 - 1-2pm EST - Trends in Constructability and Waste Reduction: The Architect & General Contractor Partnership

A green design is only half of the story:

  • Learn the role architects play in green building and how GCs and designers can work together to reduce waste in the actual construction of a design.
  • Find out about leveraging green interference management processes and digital design distribution, coordination and reviews.
  • See how you can reduce errors in the field that ends up as scrap, and how GC’s early involvement can ensure designs are sustainable from a constructability perspective.
  • Find out about best practices in team collaboration and the 5 top determinants of successful architect/GC partnerships.

12/9/08 - 1-2pm EST - The Importance of Design Visualization for Creating Renewable Designs

Join us and learn how architects, designers, and engineers use design visualization to explore more green design options, confirm their validity, and communicate their impact at every stage of development.

Using 3D design visualization tools, project stakeholders can make visually informed design decisions such as the effect of sun or shadows on a building, or the visual effects of the materials used in the design. Design visualization techniques can be used to integrate BIM models with sustainable design standards and analysis criteria, such as lighting analysis, which provides invaluable assistance in attaining LEED 8.1 certification. See how you can expand the visual context of your sustainable design concepts for more effective design validation and visual communication.
